I started every game this season, so I have plenty of credibility when I say this. At this school, football is not fun at all. We are overworked. We put so much work in and we get nothing out of it. We spend all summer in the weight room, I had to drop Biology to take weight lifting so I could stay on the team. It is ridiculous.
I agree with MP Start. I had a son on the team this year. He made all the workouts, camp and everything expected from him. He had no summer to speak of. He is so overworked, tried and sore from weight lifting that his spring sport is compromised. If weight lifting is done wrong, it can do more harm than good.
Are you kidding me? All other sports at MP like softball, baseball, basketball, etc. practice most of the year and play 2 & 3 games a week, sometimes more. Those 3 sports in particular will play as many as 30 games in a season. Alot of these kids are also taking hard classes and have alot of homework. You guys are overworked! Give me a break!!
Look, you are NOT here with us when we work out or practice. I understand that people play two sports. I have played another sport and lettered all 2 years since my freshman year. I am also taking mostly AP classes: AP U.S. History with Mr Magda, Trig , AP Lang. I go through all of the stuff a football player and a student goes through. I didn't say that other sports aren't overworked, its just that I know for a fact that the football team is. So I hope that you will think about this kind of stuff before you think that I am kidding you, because I am not. I am also not going to cut you a break. I KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT!
MP Starter is correct. The football players are cursed and run ragged only to be told they "aren't worth *^*#" There is never any praise. I know coaches are notorious for breaking players down to build them up. Our coaching staff does a great job of tearing the team down but fail miserably in building them back up. It's not going to change, and I think next year will be a very disappointing year because there are quite a few players who are choosing not to play next season. It's not worth wasting the whole summer in the weight room, staying late in the evening every day, never being able to attend tutoring after school if needed, having no time to study, and being exhausted all of the time.
I have also started every game (except Jackson) and I completely agree with MP starter and the person that left the last comment. Coach Walker would chew me out at practice and say that I was terrible. Wow that didn't help any. He would make you feel like crap and put you down. Then I didn't make any mistakes the last 4 games and he never said good job or anything. We need change but I know that it isn't gonna come. I haven't decided to come back for my senior year or not. It is too much work to go to 18 summer workouts that are grueling, Spring football, and camp where we have 3 practices a day. It is turning Americas funnest game into job, and once it becomes a job, all enjoyment is lost.
Again, players of today are not like players of yesterday. Gimme a break with all the complaining. One day you boys will have jobs where you will not like your boss but you will need that job to support a family. Maybe all this whining explains why we have not heart.
