How will Dogs fare in post season?

Well, here we are . . . almost to the end of another MP Bulldog football season. With 1 game to play in the regular season, the Dogs seem to be headed to post-season play. . . .  on the road. They should be able to get past a weak Maynard Jackson team. . . but who really knows until the game is played. If they do win Saturday, they will be in third or fourth place. So it's a road trip to play either Baldwin or Burke Co. Nov. 14.

SPECIAL NOTE: This week's game is on Saturday. . . not Friday.  The game is in Atlanta at Lake Stadium.

DIRECTIONS:
Lakewood Stadium is located at 70 Claire Drive in Atlanta.
From Forsyth take I-75 North (56 miles). Get off at Exit 243 (Arthur Langford Pwky, formerly Lakewood Freeway). Turn right onto Langford Pkwy (east).Take a slight left at Lakewood Ave SW and go half-mile. Turn left at Shadydale Ave SE (0.2 mile). Turn left at Claire Dr.

It's the coach's fault, it's the ref's fault, favortism, blah, blah, blah. I am so sick of these whiny, so called fans. I can only hope that some of these whiny, complaining fans aren't parents of the players. I read this and the vent and it is the same old thing from certain people. If their player isn't playing they claim favortism. I have been to the practices, every player is given a chance to step up and be aggressive. We could use some improvement in the play calling area but we will never win until every boy playing wants it. That is what we need to work on. Getting the heart back!

The Bulldogs need some new helmets...or fresh paint on them. If they look good they feel good. They want to be proud of themselves and it starts with a good look. Period!!!!!!

paint their helmets?!...comeon get a clue!..the coaches paint the helmets every season before the 1st game. The boys wear the battle scares on their helmets as a badge of honor. There is NO_WAY you'd get one of them to "paint" their helmet now. Who would want to look like they never played a down or worse yet, a kicker?...
GO DAWGS!

Monroe county is very disappointing to me as of now. I brought my son here to get a good education and play a sport that he love in a town known for good football. But I feel as though I have decieve him because football coaching sucks here. I am out of that Dan Pitts stage and I know that there is a coach somewhere better than this. Middle school coaching is the worse. The coaches have stop giving our kids the knowledge they need on and off the field. In middle school they keep 75-80 kids on one team and then he coaches 22 kids with the others on the sideline to play, fight and wish they could learn. This Mary Persons era is not going to get better until they clean it up from top to bottom. I am concern for the future for these kids. PLAY KING HE DESERVES IT.

That is such a slap in the face to the men who sacrifice their time every day for our kids. Come on.

MP LEADERSHIP IS REALLY BAD TO ME AS A PARENT AND A FAN. HOW CAN YOU SAY A PLAYER DID NOT PLAY DO TO COACHES DECISIONS , WHAT HE COULD HAVE DONE SO BAD THAT YOU ACTUALLY SIT HIM DOWN FOR FOUR GAMES HIS SENIOR YEAR AFTER HE CARRIED YOUR TEAM WHEN POWERS WAS DOWN. BUT YOU HAVE A COACH ON YOUR STAFF THAT WAS COACHING THE C-TEAM WAS ACCUSED OF CHOKING A CHILD NOT ABLE TO COACH A C-TEAM GAME,BUT ALLOWED TO COACH ON YOUR STAFF AT A VARSITY GAME. IS THAT SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT, WHATS MORE IMPORTANT KINGS FUTURE ARE THAT COACHES FUTURE. [BUT HE'S,IN CHARGE OF OUR KIDS ON FRIDAY NIGHTS AND DURING PRACTICES]GOOD LUCK BULLDOGS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you don't like how your kid's being coached...then don't let him play...go somewhere else...where the grass is greener.

My son is a young Varsity & JV player that is not getting to play. He has complained about it. I told him "no excuses, life is hard, work hard, stay in the game, do whatever it takes and you will get results." What are you other parents saying, are you giving your kids a bunch of excuses? I don't think that we have the best coaches right now, but unless you take your child and go somewhere else this is what we are dealing with. As far as the middle school coach "excused of choking a boy" before you post something that serious you need to check your facts, and there are alot of sides to that story. I do agree that we need to improve the c-team and JV structure and put football coaches there to develop the young talent. GO DAWGS!

We're going to Burke Co. Friday night. Head to head, we look evenly matched so we have a chance of advancing past the first round. Let's put the petty complaining aside and support our kids. Go Bulldogs!

What are you talking about at the c-team level. I thought they went to the championship last season? Has the coaching staff changed? Excuse me as I no longer live in Forsyth.

So sad, we will probably be one and done and I'm not totally convinced there is a probably.

Listen MP fans we have to understand that the values of old fashioned Mp football were killed, they did not die. We have to many former MA students who are now parents of MP students who believe, “Win a few but let my son play”. We all know that size does not matter, it never has at MP but heart did. Parents who take up for their kids mean well, however their interference is similar to the kid who helps the butterfly out of the cocoon. This butterfly will never learn to fly because of a well intentioned childish act.
Struggles help develop the wings of our kids and butterflies, maybe we should learn more from the butterfly.

Hello,
Well one thing you can say about most fans that they are die hard MP fans regardless of whomever is being done wrong or right. I would like to say that this area has changed when it comes to football because the discipline these children have is nothing. The coaches have no pride in these kids and why should they. C team/ JV/ Varsity is all tied into one program and should be revamped and started new. If I wanted to move I would but I know that a changed will come. By God anything is possible. Good Luck MP.

hate that the Dawgs lost, but thank goodness this season is over. the coaching is biased, you sit King out because his parents made a stand (coach's decision),and not many jv players got any experience. my son has heart and drive. has wanted to and has been on a mp football team since 7th grade. he has been to every practice, every game, every camp, and every weightlifting session. he didn't receive the playing time he earned and most definitely deserved but i'm afraid if i say anything he won't see the field at all next season. give a kid a fair chance at the position they are assigned. you already know what they can do.

Well...I'm glad it's over too.I still agree that the Coaching Staff had a lot to do with this seasons outcome. If you never turn the playbook how can these boys accomplish much? We supported the team to the end and we are proud of them regardless. And even if you are undefeated all season still does not mean you win the play offs. Look what happend at the Jackson/Thomson game. To the senior players, Good luck in your future and hold your heads high you guys did a good job. We will miss you.

It saddens me to see how judgemental and ignorant some fans can be. If you are going to criticize the coaches and call players out by name, then by God you should have the courage to not hide behind and anonymous screen name. I'm not a Forsythian, but I do work here and I have a child that attends Monroe County. I would be the first to say that you bloggers don't have a clue of the extent our coaches go to in order to look out for the well being of our football players. Our coaches open up their homes and their families to our players. I can personally attest to this!! If the truth were to be told, many could argue that the coaches maybe reach out a little more to the black kids, but in many cases it is because they are the ones that need the extra lift or should I say the extra love. Please let me clarify---I am an African American, but I am a Christian before I am anything and my mother has always told me that the truth will set you free..
The race card should be burned and thrown away. There should be no more excuses of---"I can't get ahead because I'm black" etc... If an African American can become Commander in Chief, then anything is possible.. I will end by saying--support our football coaches and our program.. We have a special group of kids coming up.. The next year is going to be exciting and the following one is going to be one to remember... Archive this blog because I will be the jerk to say---I TOLD YOU SO!!

Do all of you realize that every county in this state thinks that we have the worst fans, and I'm afraid they are right. I am so sick of all the comments about the Booster Club parents & kids. Most of you don't even know what you are talking about. Shut up and get involved with the Booster Club and see for yourself. Friday night was sad because of the fans and the players. The players have no heart and the fans are rude. We are all to blame for the state of the program, not just the coaches. Everyone seems to blame the young man that plays quarterback. Is the quarterback responsible for blocking and locking up on tackles. It's called a TEAM sport you idiots!!

I had the opportunity to play for Walker years back and I know what kind of man he is and what kind of team he likes to have. I don't believe it's the coaches. I am pretty well acquainted with them and know what kind of people/coaches they are. Whenever something is going wrong on the team everyone decides to blame it on the coaches. Have you tried to take the time to and evaluate the players? What could they do better? The problem is those boys don't have the swagger that a team has. They're individuals, worried about themselves.

HOW COULD YOU PEOPLE JUST SIT AROUND AND TALK ABOUT THE KIDS LIKE THIS.IT HURT THEM AS WELL WHEN THEY LOST THAT GAME ON FRIDAY AND THEY DO HAVE HEART THEY PLAY LIKE THEY ARE TOLD TO PLAY AND THE COACHES CALL THE PLAYS THAT THEY THINK WILL WORK COULD THERE BE BETTER PLAY CALLING WELL YES BUT THAT DOESNT MEAN THAT THE COACHES ARE NO GOOD ALL THESE SO CALLED FANS IF YOU DONT LIKE WHAT THE COACHES ARE DOING AND HOW KIDS PLAY THEN STAY AT HOME ON FRIDAY NIGHT.STOP COMPLAINING SO MUCH FIND ANTHER TEAM TO WATCH I DONT CARE IF YOU WENT TO MPHS OR LIVED IN FORSYTH FOR 99 YEARS YOU HAVE A CHOICE IF YOU DONT LIKE IT THEN YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO.FOR ALL CRAZY PEOPLE WHO THINK YOU HAVE TO BE IN THE TOUCH DOWN CLUB AND CONTRIBUTE LARGE SUMS OF MONEY JUST SO YOUR KID CAN PLAY THEN YOU ARE CRAZY MY SON HAS STARTED EVERY SINCE HIS TENTH GRADE YEAR AND IM NOT IN THAT CLUB NOR HAVE I GIVEN ANY MONEY SO STOP THE LIES.MAYBE THE COACHES THINK THAT THE OTHER KIDS ARE JUST NOT READY EVERYBODY HAS TO WAIT THEIR TURN AND SOME KIDS ARE JUST OUT THERE CAUSE THEY'RE PARENTS WANT THEM TO PLAY FACE IT.AND SINCE WHEN DOES THE COLOR OF YOUR SKIN DETERMINES WHETHER YOU NEED MORE ATTENTION OR NOT THATS CRAZY KIDS ARE KIDS NO MATTER WHAT COLOR THEY ARE THEY ALL NEED EXTRA ATTENTION.WHAT IS THIS WORLD COMING TO EVERYBODY THINKS FOOTBALL IS THE ONLY THING GOING ON AROUND HERE PEOPLE ARE STARVING AND DYING EVERYDAY WE NEED TO GET DOWN ON OUR KNEES AND PRAY FOR THESE KIDS AND COACHES INSTEAD OF CRITIZING THEM.

I do agree with some of the post that says there is more going on in life than just football. But, this is a football blog, not a blog about world issues. Sports programs are important in the development of these kids. I played for Coach Pitts and all his coaches in the 80s and I took away some life lessons that I now use when I talk to my kids. There is nothing wrong with critism, my problem is that so many fans are claiming favortism. That is a bunch of nonsense. I was at the game Friday night and heard fans calling out to Coaches and players, in particular the QB. These were adults acting like little kids. I have a problem with that. These "fans" are teaching kids to look for excuses, not to work harder to achieve what they want. If you are one of these fans that are whining about favortism then you must not have played for Coach Pitts. That is not what we were taught. If you want something, you work hard for it, no matter what the obstacle. I would also like to say to that QB that you did a great job. You had a bunch of jerks in the stands riding you every game. Everytime the team made a mistake those idiots were blaming it on you. You carried yourself with class and you played with determination. I wonder if any of those people that were yelling at you could have played under the critism you played under. Good Job #16, you did what your coaches asked of you!! To you fans that were acting like idiots, please stay home, you are an embarrassment to MP.

The so called lowering of standards at MARY PERSONS began when Mary Persons moved up in classification in 2000. The fans do not understand or see this. The BOED did not recognize this fact; heck they (ran a man who only gave his entire life to MP football)away. Hired a good football coach who has been successful at other schools to coach our team and he has only beaten two teams with winning records in the three years he has been here. So it is very clear to me that the athletes we won with in AA are not going to win the same amount of games in AAA.

My question to all MP fans is this. How many games did you go to over the last 3 years that at first look our team looked like better athletes? I have been to every game. Except for 5 or 6 we never had better athletes than the other team.

Gosh, I have never seen so many hostilities come between fans for a high school sport. However, I must agree that we do not have the best athletes. We do not have the speed and size needed to be a successful football team. Instead the coaches think that they can make up for it by working us to death!

Working you to death? You must not have played for Chafin when practices routinely went to 7:30, 3 nights a week.
