Blackout Jackson

The Mary Persons Bulldogs are gearing up for their biggest game of the year so far -- the Backyard Brawl --- and they need your help. Let's Blackout Jackson!
It worked for the Georgia Bulldogs against Auburn last year, so why not try it? Although the MP Bulldogs will be wearing white uniforms, as is standard at away games, Dog fans are being asked to wear black and get to the stadium as early as possible to blackout Jackson’s famed Red Devil Hill. Who knows? MP fans can make this a Bulldog home game.
Three Dogs Sports is selling special edition Blackout Jackson t-shirts for $15 each. Proceeds benefit the MP Lady Bulldogs softball team, who is also playing Jackson this week on Thursday at 5 p.m. in Jackson!

Go Dogs!

I heard that there were some Jackson football players arrested for the vandalism to the Bulldog field. Among them were the starting QB and the Center. Jackson.... classy as always.

no need to blackout jackson the state already did that years ago when it gave forsyth the interstate and went around jackson.
maybe they knew what us forsythians know that if you give jackson anything nice they just try to tear it up and destroy it and if they can't do that they just use the bathroom on it and walk away.

Yea, they tore up and destroyed our butts but you can't blame the players. When you don't spread your offense out, and you run the ball up the middle on every 1st and 2nd down, and are forced to throw on third down, you are not going to win. I understand that #16 was injured and needed protecting, but there needed to be some creativity in the play calling. I am sure our boys are going to be chewed out but this loss goes to the coaches.

Coach Walker better be careful winning too many games. The last coach was fired for winning. Go figure.

Sounds like the better team won. I couldnt make the game as I had another committment, but from what I heard the MP secondary couldn't defend against the pass. And our play calling on offense lacked creativity. Jackson seemed to be MP's only real obstacle this year as far as the region goes. Lets hope Jackson stumbles along the way forward and we make up lost ground.

To say our play calling lacked creativity is an understatement! They watched us run the same plays against Rutland. The coaches need to put some guys in the games that want to play and are willing to hit someone and take a hit. Hopefully we'll have Jeffrey Powers back this week. I think Drew does a good job at quarterback, except for throwing the ball into double coverage. We are just lacking in the coaching dept. I miss the good ole Pitts days!!

I think the Junior quarterback looks great too. He should see a lot of playing time in the next few weeks.

Since were so terrible at 4-1, maybe we should play just freshmen and sophmores.Lets sit all the seniors. Come on guys, #16 is actually a good QB, and with Powers coming back we'll be able to continue growing and improving. Coleman has a good arm to, and the maturity, and experience to handle the job. Let's not give up on this team and play B-teamers just because of one loss.

We have a 80's mentality in a game that has moved to the 2000's. Number 22 is being under used. He should be on offense for at least half of the plays pressing the edges with all that speed. Use him to run mis-direction sweeping plays and it will loosen the Defense up.
I read the article talking about how tough Jackson's defense was and I disagree. They played 8 and 9in the box all night because play calling is so predictable.

P.S. Don't be shocked if we have a tough one against Woodland Henry.

All MP opponents have to do is watch any 2 films of MP games and the rest is easy. 1st down & 2nd down up the middle...pass on 3rd down. Not much for them to have to figure out. What happened to the option that MP used to run or how about a sweep! Mix it up Coach Walker or you could be packing your bags!

I know everybody want to debate whether the best players are on the field. My questions is whether the best coaches are on the field.

Last Friday was the worst coaching performance I've ever seen. There wasn't any diversity in the offense resulting in multiple 3 and outs, and placing a heavy burden on our defense. Before every play we ran, I could call out what we were going to run and who was getting the ball. The majority of pass plays went to Chris Bowden (as always), and he basically ran the same go route because we were in 3rd and long all night. If any of the receivers had ran a post route on first or second down, we would have moved the ball up and down the field. And will someone tell me, where is the tightend? We haven't use him all season. Whoever call the pass play right before halftime when the QB fumbled should have been fired on the spot, along with the special teams coach who couldn't tell the fake punt was coming that led to Jackson scoring their first touchdown.

I'm a proud former MP player, and I've sat back and watched the program suffer for the past fews due to the lack of coaching. We're the worst 4-1 probably in the state, not because of the players, but because the coaches not knowing the game of football.

4-1 is 4-1 however you look at it. They need to play each game like there 0-0 reading to prove something.

All i know is, when a reciever running a "go" pattern has to stop 30 yards down the field, turn around and wait for the ball,it allows the cornerback to catch up and the safety to come over the top. The QB needs to air the ball out and let the reciever run to it. If that same pattern is run and the ball is thrown, say 45-50 yards, then the reciever(who had already run by the DB's)has a chance to catch it on the run and take it to the house.

Win some lose some, either way i agree with most...it's the coaches fault for not changing up the game plan.
